Bastet: The Joyful Protector

"Bastet, the feline goddess, radiates warmth and joy. Her worship inspired celebration, music, and dance, fostering community spirit. As a protector, she brought comfort and courage, her vibrant energy uplifting devotees, encouraging harmony, and infusing life with playful, positive vibes that resonated deeply."

Bastet, also called Bast, ancient Egyptian goddess worshiped in the form of a lioness and later a cat. The daughter of Re, the sun god, Bastet was an ancient deity whose ferocious nature was ameliorated after the domestication of the cat around 1500 BC. Since the Second Dynasty, Bastet was worshiped as a deity, most commonly in Lower Egypt. Her form and powers changed over the years.

Due to her protective duties, Bastet was the goddess of the home, domesticity, women's secrets, cats, fertility, and childbirth. She protected the home from evil spirits and disease, especially diseases associated with women and children. She was nicknamed the Lady of the East, Goddess of the Rising Sun, and the Sacred and All-Seeing Eye. She is also known as the Goddess of the Moon and was thought to be the eye of the moon and the eye of Ra. As with many deities in Egyptian religion.
